Abstract

The misalignment of value orientations between family upbringing and the Sunday school in the context of spiritual and moral education leads to the situation where patriotic values are internalized by adolescents merely at the cognitive level, remaining declarative. Drawing on an analysis of 21 scholarly sources, including five international publications, the author substantiates a theoretical model of local history work in which local history and family memory function not as illustrative material but as a mechanism for harmonizing the value positions of the two educational environments. Informal education within the family is considered a full-fledged educational environment whose potential is actualized through joint research activity. The methodological framework comprises the system-activity, axiological-anthropological, cultural-historical, and phenomenological approaches combined with the methods of theoretical modeling, comparative analysis, and systematization. The proposed model includes three interrelated components – substantive, procedural, and resultant. The procedural component describes four stages of harmonizing value orientations: actualization, problematization, integration, and internalization. The resultant component records changes at the cognitive, motivational-value, emotional-volitional, and behavioral levels. The author concludes that the continuity of traditions in patriotic education is ensured not through the transmission of ready-made value constructs but through the organization of joint local history activity in which the family acts as a co-researcher. Of particular significance is the stage of problematization, which transforms family memory from a repository of facts into an object of pedagogical reflection.
